Service with Integrity
We believe integrity means offering honest, evidence-based guidance — not overselling, but empowering you with clear options and realistic expectations. You can trust that everything we do is rooted in what’s right for your goals, your animals, and your peace of mind.
We are veterinarians first - and with that comes a deep understanding of the whole animal and herd. And we believe it is our responsibility to ensure that everything we do positively impacts their long-term health, performance, and potential.
Relationships
Rooted in Partnership
Building genuine relationships and working together toward shared achievements is what gives us our purpose and job satisfaction. We want you to achieve your goals—and we want to provide the expertise and skillsets to help you get there.
We take the time to get to know you, your program and your animals so we can understand what you’re working toward. Whether you want to keep your backyard companion healthy or take your elite genetics to the national level we want to work with you to get there.
Innovation for Success
We honor the tradition of hard work and practical care that built this profession—and we build on that with modern science and continued innovation. Our goal is to bring advanced, effective tools within reach, making them practical and easy to put into use. Our commitment to progress isn’t about chasing trends; it’s about finding real solutions that help you achieve lasting results.

WHO WE ARE
The StillGrass Team

Rebecca Holmbeck
DVM CVSMT
Veterinarian
Dr. Rebecca Holmbeck leads our equine sports medicine program with a deep commitment to keeping horses feeling and performing their best. As both a veterinarian and a Certified Veterinary Spinal Manipulation Therapist (chiropractor), she blends advanced diagnostics with specialized therapies to create individualized care plans for every horse. Her whole-horse approach and genuine passion for helping both horses and riders make her an invaluable partner for anyone seeking the highest level of care.
She served as a veterinary technician in the U.S. Army from 2003–2007 before earning her DVM from the University of Illinois in 2014. She completed acupuncture training at China Agricultural University during her clinical year and became certified in chiropractic therapy (CVSMT) in 2016 to further support equine athletes. As an avid horsewoman herself, she understands firsthand what it takes to keep horses moving and feeling their best—and she brings that experience into every case she treats.

Hoyt Rees
DVM
Veterinarian
Dr. Hoyt Rees leads our cattle and equine reproduction services with a deep passion for reproductive science and the innovation that drives it forward. He has managed and implemented embryo programs for large dairies, vertically integrated beef operations, and elite family-run show herds across the country. With a unique blend of clinical expertise and real-world program management, Dr. Rees approaches each case with precision, partnership, and a commitment to helping clients reach their breeding goals.
He earned his DVM from the University of Illinois in 2014. He went on to practice bovine medicine in Idaho, where he founded and operated a successful independent IVF lab and embryo transfer business starting in 2016. After selling that business and returning home to Illinois in 2023, he brings both extensive reproductive experience and a practical, producer-focused mindset to StillGrass. His understanding of the financial, genetic, and management considerations behind every breeding program allows him to guide clients through the process with clarity, care, and confidence.

A lifelong animal enthusiast, Jen grew up riding and showing horses, and her family continues to raise cattle in the Morris, IL area. Her background gives her a firsthand understanding of both the equine performance world and the goals of serious breeders.

Griffin Bernard
Equine Sports Medicine Technician

Growing up riding horses and continuing to play polo whenever she can, Griffin brings years of hands-on experience in the competitive horse world. Her deep understanding of what it takes to keep horses comfortable, sound, and performing at their best allows her to handle horses safely in any situation and to support the advanced care we provide.

Jim & Mike
The Guys Who Get it Done
Jim and Mike are both retired tradesmen with decades of construction experience, they are the steady hands and problem-solvers behind the ongoing buildout of our ever-growing clinic. Whether they’re setting fence posts, operating equipment, or framing walls, Mike and Jim keep the wheels turning (and the walls standing). Their practicality, craftsmanship, and positive attitudes have become part of the heartbeat of our work-in-progress facility.
Beyond their skills, they both bring something just as important - good company. They’re the kind of people you’re always glad to have around—quick with a story, steady through the hiccups, and endlessly patient with the chaos of construction on a working veterinary clinic.
